The Heart of an Idyllic Hertfordshire Residence

The Brief

Moving out of London, the clients were looking for something different for their large, period house set in rural Hertfordshire. Having seen Simon’s work on TV, they were impressed by the mix of materials, attention to detail and luxurious finish of his kitchen design.

“Originally two rooms, it became clear to me that removing the dividing wall would open up the space and allow it to become the real heart of the family home and provide a stunning view of the formal gardens. This would create all the cooking space, storage, relaxed seating and semi-formal dining my clients were looking for – and of course that elusive wow factor.”

The clients, a property developer and professional cook, were able to articulate and refine their brief to provide Simon with a clear insight into how they wanted to create a space that fitted perfectly with their lifestyle. A space that allowed them to indulge their love of cooking and entertaining, as well as a room that they could almost exclusively live in when just the two of them at home.
