A Converted Mill in Wiltshire
The Brief
The clients had purchased an 18th Century listed watermill in Wiltshire and whilst unable to alter the exterior, had received permission to repair, refurbish and improve the interior to make a luxurious and comfortable, large family home. Some walls had been removed to open up the internal space and a conservatory added to provide a dining area.
“The challenge was to make the complex space work as an entity; to make it all connect. Whilst it had been opened up, there were still parts that narrowed whilst others had lower ceiling heights than the rest. I wanted to maintain a sense of complexity and interest and keep the mill’s identity.”
